Melfort Vs Wynyard

A beautiful day for football at George Lamb Field as a small contigent of Wynyard Bears (25 players) hosted the undefeated Melfort Comets. Wynyard marched the first drive 70 yds and a beautiful pass and run gave Wynyard an early 6-0 lead. Convert was good 7-0.
Melfort D settled down with quick adjustments and rest of quarter was a stalemate. Melfort matched Wynyard's efforts with a beautiful pass and run themselves on opening drive of 2nd quarter. Convert good to tie game. 7-7. Wynyard punter kicks ball 35 yds into endzone and out the side for a single to make score 8-7 Wynyard. With 41 seconds left in quarter a second pass and run and score was 14-18 Melfort at half time. (Convert good). Third quarter action saw Wynyard's QB rush in from the 4at 9:23 to give Wynyard a 15-14 lead after the convert. This is how 3rd quarter ended. Melforts QB rolls off a 40 yd run on second and long to give Melfort 20-15 lead. 21-15 after convert. Wynyard QB hurt on play and done for game. Short benched and with no Starting QB the Bear's struggled and the Comets did what they had to do to drive the nails in the coffin. Final score Melfort 35- Wynyard 15. Hard fought battle.
